Five optional accessories to improve the safety of industrial ladders

Falls from height are one of the most frequent accidents in industrial or construction settings, whether due to improper use of work equipment or errors committed by professionals themselves due to carelessness or recklessness.

At KTL-Ladders, we offer our customers and users a wide range of industrial ladders that are safe, durable, and of the highest quality, ensuring work at height with maximum safety and ergonomics.

Our models come standard with steps featuring non-slip surfaces for more comfortable ascent and non-slip caps to prevent the ladder from accidentally sliding on the surface during use. However, for certain industrial products in our catalogue, we offer the possibility of adding optional accessories to further enhance the safety of our ladders.

  • Up-and-over security door: this accessory is an effective and practical option to increase safety at height in various industrial environments by offering perimeter collective protection that ensures a safe workplace, thus reducing the risk of falls from the platform during work at height.
The KTL-Ladders up-and-over security door is made of aluminum and features a compact, lightweight design, opening and closing vertically with great ease, making it suitable for intensive and continuous use. This option is available for the 2XL, 2XL-S, KASTLE, EP-1, and EP-2 warehouse ladders and for platform ladders in the MAX 45° and 60° series.
  • Double safety lock: this option ensures that staying on the ladder poses no risk to the professional’s health and safety by providing 360° protection to prevent falls from height. This KTL-Ladders mechanism consists of two nylon safety straps accompanied by a latch that the operator must secure each time they perform work at height.
While some models include this feature as standard —such as the K-TELEX 60S, K-TELEX 45 and 45S, and KASTLE ladders— others can incorporate it additionally for greater protection during work, such as the 2XL, 2XL-S, K-WORK, EP-1, and EP-2 models.
  • Extra-wide step with a 15 cm tread: our models are made with 8 cm steps featuring non-slip ridges (except for certain references). KTL-Ladders offers the option to incorporate 15 cm steps to provide greater safety and comfort benefits to professionals.
This PLUS step, with its wider surface, provides better support during ascents and descents, reducing the risk of falls. Additionally, it allows for a more ergonomic position since the extra depth lets the foot rest comfortably, reducing fatigue during prolonged work periods.
  • Aluminium hooks: this accessory improves the stability and safety of leaning ladders, particularly in environments requiring work at significant heights (e.g., industrial maintenance or construction tasks). These hooks ensure a firm, strong, and stable connection between the ladder and the supporting surface, minimizing the risk of falls from height.
  • Handrails: in our industrial series leaning ladders (fixed ladder and fixed ladder with wide steps), handrails can be included on both sides to enhance safety, comfort, and stability, reducing the risk of accidents. These elements provide an additional support point, facilitating safer and more comfortable ascent and descent.

Safety in ladder use remains a challenge for many companies, making it essential and necessary for them to take measures to ensure safe work at heightsuch as proper equipment selection, compliance with standards, awareness, and professional training-.

Occupational risk prevention departments aim to ensure the health and safety of workers in the workplace, as well as assess and reduce risks that could lead to accidents.

At KTL-Ladders, we provide solutions tailored to customer needs. Our commitment is to offer resistant and efficient products for industrial and/or professional use, meeting the safety requirements of the respective European Standards and responding to the strictest certified quality demands.
