EN 14183, the European Standard your industrial stool must comply with
The stools from KTL-Ladders comply with the safety measures established in the European Standard EN 14183, which, besides specifying the requirements for stools, includes design characteristics, performance requirements, materials, test methods, and the declaration of conformity for use.
The most important aspects of the standard are:
- Steps must be evenly spaced
- The height from the ground to the platform must be a maximum of 1 m
- The platform must have a minimum width of 300 mm and a maximum depth of 600 mm
- If the platform is less than 240×400 mm and is at a height of more than 750 mm, the stool must have a handrail
- Maximum total load of 150 kg
Moreover, there are four different types of stools:
- Step stool with fixed or foldable sections, incorporating one or more steps with a platform for sitting or standing
- Platform stool with wide steps and a slight angle of inclination for ascent
- Foldable/extendable step stool, whose steps must extend forward to be used
- Dome-type stool, which can be climbed from two or more sides. In this model, the platform area must be at least 600 m²
